Alex Ovechkin went on an Ovi O’s promotional tour Tuesday, first dropping by a second-grade class at Arlington Traditional School in Arlington. Sporting scars from a bike accident a couple of days ago, he spent time with the students, gave them a taste of Ovi O’s, took photos, signed autographs and answered questions.

After that, Ovi visited patients at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, meeting kids in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic.

Ovechkin’s last stop was at Giant Food, where he stocked the shelves with Ovi O’s and worked checkout. Even his wife showed up to buy some.

Ovi O’s is a honey-nut cereal, made in collaboration with Giant Food, and will be available in all area stores starting Setp. 17. A portion of proceeds from the sale of Ovi O’s will benefit the Maryland-based Children’s Cancer Foundation, Inc. a non-profit that is committed to funding locally-based researchers, programs and facilities until every child is assured a healthy future.
