Tom Wilson, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Alex Tuch Line Help Upend Penguins

Pierre-Luc Dubois

It’s not a huge surprise that with several new players this season, some new lines came about, and some of those lines are clicking fairly early in the season.

Tom Wilson, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Alex Tuch each scored a goal against the Penguins in Wednesday’s 5-3 win, with Wilson also picking up two assists. Tuch also had two goals in Game 1.

“He can fit on any of our lines because he’s a phenomenal player,” Spencer Carbery said of Tuch. “What you’re seeing from him is he’s an extremely intelligent player and he has a good stick.”

The line was a combined +9. To put this in perspective, the line of Ilya Protas, Aleksei Protas and Jordan Kyrou were -9. Carbery said though he doesn’t like the stat line, he’ll look at the film to see if it was as bad as it seemed, but doesn’t think so.

Meanwhile, Sidney Crosby was -4, and former Cap Hendrix LaPierre was -3.

After the game, Wilson praised his linemates and said the team’s depth will be a huge boost this season as each line is capable of scoring.

Logan Thompson played well in net with 27 saves. “I feel bad for the three,” Carbery said, while praising his performance. “He’ll be bent out of shape about that, I assure you.”
