Congratulations, Braden Holtby!

(via the Caps)

As promised, the Washington Capitals honored goaltender Braden Holtby on Tuesday prior to the game against the Avalanche. With his wife and children by his side, Holtby was presented with a framed jersey and a commemorative guitar, as the Vezina Trophy itself sat nearby. A tribute video played with congratulatory messages from Olaf Kolzig, several teammates, and his parents, Tami and Greg Holtby. Fans were given “Congrats Holtby” banners (pictured below). Holtby tied the NHL record for goalie wins in a season, matching Martin Brodeur’s 48 despite having played 12 fewer games.

Also, one of his masks honoring the band Tragically Hip raised $21,650 in honor of its singer, who has cancer.
