Zdeno Chara Plays 1600th Game, Gets Both Cobra Kai Headbands

Caps defenseman Zdeno Chara played in his 1,600 NHL game on Saturday, becoming only the 13th player in NHL history to pass that milestone. While the Caps beat the Islanders, 6-3, the Cobra Kai headband of the game – both of them – went to Chara in the post-game ceremony, presented by the previous winners, Nick Jensen and Michael Raffl.

“First time in Caps’ history!” said Alex Ovechkin, who missed the game with an injury (speaking of which, the Caps are 19-14-3 when Ovi misses a game). Chara has already won the headband three times, but this time got both the offensive and defensive headbands.

They also gave him a game puck, presented by Nick Backstrom.
