Welcome Back, Christian Djoos!

Travis Boyd is biting Christian Djoos (Caps Outsider)

Caps defender Christian Djoos signed a 1-year, $1.25 million contract today. This is great news for media members who love making puns, like ‘Djoos is Loose’ and ‘Djoos Scores a Deuce’ and other groan-worthy rhymes.

The salary was based on what an independent arbitrator came up with. Since it’s only one year, and had to be ruled by an arbitrator, don’t be surprised if Djoos is traded at some point. Plus, the Caps clearly have more faith in Jonas Siegenthaler as of late.

Djoos, 24, is a native of Gothenburg, Sweden. He’s won a Stanley Cup with the Caps but hasn’t yet become an every-day player. He played 45 games last season, scoring once and adding 9 assists. He was a seventh round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, 195th overall. He’s also the son of former NHL defenseman Par Djoos, who played for the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Rangers.
