This shouldn’t come as any surprise, but Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was named the NHL’s first star of the week, after registering two hat tricks, another goal, and a shootout winner in the past three games.
The hat tricks were the 21st and 22nd of Ovechkin’s career. Check out the Caps’ all-time hat trick database.
Ovechkin also moved within four goals of tying Dave Andreychuk for 14th in the all-time goals list. Check out those numbers here.
Mark Scheifele of the Jets got second star of the week, while Jack Eichel of the Sabres got third.
