Thank You, Washington Capitals

(Caps Outsider)

The 2014-15 Washington Capitals season is over. While it ended in heart-breaking fashion, the team that Brian MacLellan, and even George McPhee, put together kept our attention and kept us rooting for the entire season, up until that very last shot.

We celebrated another Winter Classic victory at the most festive game I’ve ever attended. We watched them win a Game 7 against the Islanders, ensuring they couldn’t return to play another game at their beloved stadium on Long Island. We watched our superstar, Alex Ovechkin, win yet another goal scoring title. And we gave the President’s Trophy winners a major scare. Simply speaking, they gave it their best shot.

The fans, the players and the organization obviously want a lot more. An appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals would be nice, let alone a Stanley Cup. Every team wants that, whether they’ve won it many times or never.

After the Caps lost yet another 3-1 series lead in the playoffs, coming within two minutes of advancing, we can curse this team for yet again getting our hopes up, or we can thank them for giving us something to root for. I choose the later.

Go Caps.
