The Spencer Carbery Bobblehead

South Carolina Stingrays Handed These Out in 2009

Many Caps players have bobbleheads, but not everyone knows that their coach, Spencer Carbery, also had one given out by the South Carolina Stingrays, the ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, back in the 2009-10 season.

On Dec. 7, 2009, fans who bought a special ticket received a Carbery bobblehead, which was voted on by the fans as the giveaway.

At the time, Carbery was in his second and final season with the club before he retired and joined the coaching staff. The previous season, Carbery started with the Fresno Falcons, which ceased operations midway through the season. Then he joined the Stingrays, where he helped the team with the Kelly Cup. He also became an alternate captain in 2010.

This is a rare bobblehead and even Caps Outsider, which owns the website Fourth Line Bobbleheads, a hockey bobblehead database, had a hard time finding a photo of it. We reached out to several folks and could only get a hold of this:

This image promoted a game between former Stingrays Carbery and Cail MacLean, who was then the coach of the Adirondack Thunder at the time the image was released.

After searching for a while, Caps Outsider finally got our hands on a Carbery bobblehead, which is shown above.

Check it out on our other website, plus other Stingrays bobbleheads, our Hershey Bears bobblehead page, and of course, our Washington Capitals bobblehead page.
