Craig Laughlin to Temporarily Step Away Soon for Health Issues
Washington Capitals television color commentator Craig Laughlin has missed some games recently without explanation, but offered one during the second intermission in Friday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens.
Laughlin, 67, announced that he will be having heart surgery at the end of the month and he is ‘optimistic and confident’ that he will be returning as soon as he can. In the meantime, he’ll miss some more games, but not all, before he has his procedure, and will leave indefinitely on Jan. 21.
Alan May will take over color duties with Caps play-by-plan man Joe Beninati.
We here at Caps Outsider have known Laughlin for many years and volunteer with him and his charity, the Laughlin Family Foundation, which helps raise money to fight rare cancers. We are rooting for Laughlin to get through this and know he’ll come back better than ever. We love you, Locker!
