Longtime Washington Capitals broadcasting duo Craig Laughlin and Joe Beninati celebrated their 25th anniversary in the booth together on Saturday at Five Iron Golf in D.C., hosting a Caps/Penguins watch party and a fundraiser for the Laughlin Family Foundation to help fight rare cancers.
Notable faces at the event included their broadcasting partner, Al Koken, NBC Washington co-workers and friends Alan May, Alexa Landestoy, Brent Johnson, Jordan Giorgio, Caps great Peter Bondra, and Bullets/Wizards great Harvey Grant. Bob McDonald sang the national anthem, and Caps PA announcer Wes Johnson hyped up the crowd with every Caps goal.
The duo unveiled their latest alcoholic beverage-for-charity, a wine they named Broadcast Blend, and held an auction, raffle, and silent auction to raise funds for the foundation. Winners got bobbleheads, sticks, jerseys, and other fun stuff, much of which were signed by Caps players.
