Ovechkin Ties Bondra for Caps All-Time Lead for Game-Winners

(Caps Outsider)

Alex Ovechkin scored his 12th goal of the season Friday with a wicked snap-shot over the blocker-side of Islanders goalie Chad Johnson to put the Caps ahead, 3-2. New York failed to score another goal, so Ovi’s goal held up as the winner in the 5-2 win. That shot gave him 73 game-winners for his career, which ties him for first place on the Caps’ all-time game-winner list with Peter Bondra.

Earlier this season, Ovechkin broke Bondra’s team record for all-time points. With four game-winners on the season already, Ovechkin is on pace to pass Bondra’s team record in a season with 13.
