Alex Ovechkin is Player of the Week, Again!

(via the Caps)

For the second week in a row, Alex Ovechkin was named the NHL’s first star of the week. He had two goals and four assists in three games, leading the Caps to a 3-0 record.

This is the 21st time that the Washington captain has won the award, and first time he’s won it in consecutive weeks. Caps Outsider compiled all of the data here, including how many points he had and the Caps’ record during the week.

Last night against Winnipeg, Ovi scored twice to give himself 802 career goals, one better than Gordie Howe. Ovi is now chasing Wayne Gretzky for first overall, but needs 92 more.
