Alex Ovechkin Passes Gordie Howe for 2nd in All-Time Goals
(via the Caps)
Alex Ovechkin passed Gordie Howe for second all-time on the NHL’s career goal list on Friday, scoring goal number 802 on an empty net.
The goal, scored on an empty net, happened after he passed to Evgeny Kuznetsov, who didn’t want it and passed it back. The game was stopped with a minute left as they played a video from Howe’s son, Mark.
The Jets even lined up after the 4-1 Caps win to shake Ovi’s hand. This included former teammates Axel Jonsson Fjallby and Brendan Dillon.
Earlier in the evening, he tied Howe. Ovechkin now sits just 92 goals behind Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history.
