By now, it’s not a big surprise when Caps color commentator Craig Laughlin launches a new alcoholic beverage, as he’s done this more times than can we remember. But it’s always fun when he does. On Wednesday, Laughlin hosted a Capitals watch party at Calvert Brewing, where he toasted his latest beer, Top Shelf IPA, a delicious, fruity beverage packing 8.5% alcohol. The beer isn’t just something to guzzle when the Caps claw back from a 3-0 deficit, only to lose on a late short-handed goal and empty-netter. The proceeds of this are donated to the Laughlin Family Foundation, which raises money to fight rare cancers.

Rumors of other Laughlinized beers on the way: Dipsy Doo (which I expect to be the best-selling beer in the history of the Laughlin Family Foundation), and one more that I don’t want to mention because I wasn’t entirely clear if it was a joke or not.

The Laughlin Family Foundation began in 2018 after Laughlin’s wife, Linda, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Recently, they raised funds with Laughlin-branded beersvodka, and whiskey, and even had Locktoberfest at Pherm Brewery.
