Prior to the Caps’ regular season finale against the Rangers on Saturday, Washington honored Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom for milestones they achieved this season.
Backstrom was presented with a Caps jersey with the number 419, to signify his Caps-record 419th assist as the all-time team leader. He passed Michal Pivonka for the record back in March.
Ovechkin was presented with the number 473, the number of goals that passed Peter Bondra‘s team record in goals, which he got recently. He was also given a jersey with the number 826, when he passed Bondra for all-time Caps points back in November.
We’ll bet their team records stand for a long time.
