Carlson and Alzner Played ‘Guess the Number Between…’ With Fans, Who Kept Losing

Caps defensemen John Carlson and Karl Alzner returned to Silver Spring on Thursday to meet and greet fans at Sport Chevrolet. About 150 fans stood in line to get autographs and take pictures – including selfie mishaps – with the Caps’ ironmen, who brought along a couple of sticks to give away.

Their game of choice was “Guess the number.” Each person in line got to guess a number that Alzner whispered to Carlson. The selection range varied, and time and time again, the fans guessed incorrectly. Groups who came together got multiple picks within the same range of numbers, and still swung and missed.

At the end of the night, with both sticks still available, they had one final round with the remaining fans, who had to pick a number between 50 and 80. The winner? 52, for Mike Green. A little girl, who picked her age – 4 – won the other stick somehow.
