Washington defender Tyler Sloan, #89, of Calgary, turns 30 today. Sloan was undrafted and has played in the minor leagues, including Hershey, since 2000.
Also happy birthday to former Cap and Crosby-killer David Steckel, who is 29 today. Steckel, of Westbend, Wisconsin, was drafted 30th overall by Los Angeles in 2001, but played his entire career in Washington up until getting traded to New Jersey for Jason Arnott.
