Caps Salute Alex Ovechkin for 1,500 Games

Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin played in his 1,500th game Saturday against Ottawa.
While he is the eighth player in to play 1,500 career games with one franchise, joining Gordie Howe, Patrick Marleau, Nicklas Lidstrom, Alex Delvecchio, Shane Doan, Ray Bourque and Steve Yzerman, only Delvecchio has played in more games (1,550) while only being on one team in his career.
The Caps saluted Ovi in the first period, as he skated out and waved as the crowd applauded. A video of other 1,500-club members, including Bourque, Yzerman, Lidstrom, Marleau and Doan, played on the big screen as they welcoming him to the club.
No word on whether they’ll have one of those ceremonies before the game where they give him a silver stick.
