Stingrays Celebrate Scooby Doo Night and “Undie Sunday”

Stingrays goaltender Garin Bjorklund picks up donated items after the Stingrays scored their first goal of the game against the Atlanta Gladiators.

NORTH CHARLESTON – The South Carolina Stingrays lost their first game of the season, 5-2, on Sunday to the Atlanta Gladiators, putting a damper on Scooby Doo Night and “Undie Sunday,” where fans throw socks, underwear, and other new articles of clothing meant for donations.

Down 1-0 in early in the second period, Cam Morrison shot into the top right corner to tie the game and start the rain of donated items, thrown by 4,657 fans.

The Stingrays dominated much of the game, outshooting the Gladiators 34-25, but gave up four goals in the third period, including an empty-netter. Caps prospect Garin Bjorklund made 20 saves in net. Bjorklund was recently sent back down from the Hershey Bears after some other goalies were shuffled around throughout the Caps system.

The Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo was there to pick up the donated items.
