Highlights of the Caps’ 2024-25 Schedule

The NHL released all 32 teams’ regular season schedules for the 2024-25 season today, as the Capitals will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary this upcoming year.

Washington will open its 50th season at home on Oct. 12 against the New Jersey Devils. Washington and New Jersey, which originally entered the NHL as the Kansas City Scouts, both began play in the 1974-75 season.

On Oct. 29, Washington will host the New York Rangers in a rematch of their first-round playoff series from this past season, where the Capitals were swept in four games by the Rangers. It will be the first of two visits for NYR to Capital One Arena this year.

On Nov. 8, Washington will face Sidney Crosby and the rival Pittsburgh Penguins for the first time in the regular season at home in Capital One Arena. The two teams will meet there again on Jan. 18 for a Saturday night showdown.

Then, on Nov. 18, the Capitals will make their first visit to Salt Lake City to face the new Utah Hockey Club, originally the Arizona Coyotes. Washington will then host Utah on Feb. 9 for its annual Super Bowl Sunday game.

On Feb. 4 and March 22, Washington will host the defending champion Florida Panthers at Capital One Arena.

The Capitals’ schedule will pause for a 12-day break from Feb. 10-21 for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, which will take place on Feb. 12-20 at Bell Centre in Montreal and TD Garden in Boston.

Finally, Washington will complete its 2024-25 home regular season schedule against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday, April 13.
