Caps Honor Alex Ovechkin for 895 Goals

The Capitals have honored Alex Ovechkin several times with pre-game ceremonies, for what now feels like trivial milestones, like 473 career goals and 1,000 games.
But on Thursday, they were finally able to honor Ovechkin for the most notable record in decades: Most career regular season goals, which he got on Sunday when he scored his 895th goal of his career.
Ovi’s mother, wife and kids stood by as Ovi was presented with gifts by alternate captains John Carlson and Tom Wilson, team owner Ted Leonsis, and President of Hockey Operations Brian MacLellan. Ovi got gifts like golden sticks, a Rolex watch, an 80-pound, 6-foot sculpture, and other things.Â
The Capitals played a video tribute to celebrate the occasion before the team took on the Carolina Hurricanes.

Later, the Caps played this adorable video of the Ovechkin family congratulating him.
