Caps Honor Ovechkin for 1,000 Games

For the second time in a couple of weeks, the Washington Capitals honored Alex Ovechkin, this time for playing in his 1000th career game.

Unlike last time, when the Caps honored Ovechkin for scoring his 600th career goal, the NHL, his teammates, and the Caps all presented Ovechkin with gifts. He got a silver stick from the Caps and a Tiffany crystal from the league. Then Nicklas Backstrom and Brooks Orpik presented Ovi a Lionel Messi jersey and a trip to Barcelona to see FC Barcelona, on behalf of his teammates.

The best part was the tribute video, where teammates, former teammates, and other folks like the Wizards’ John Wall, Redskin Ryan Kerrigan and Ryan Zimmerman congratulated Ovechkin.
