John Carlson’s 150th Goal Is Most for a Caps Defenseman

With his goal in the third period against the Tampa Bay Lightning, John Carlson scored his 150th career goal, moving him one past Kevin Hatcher for most by a defenseman in Caps history.

“That’s cool, too,” Carlson said after the game but was more concerned with getting the win while battling for a playoff spot.

Carlson also recently played his 1,000 career game, and he has long been the all-time points leader by a defenseman in Caps history.

One thing flying under the radar is that Carlson is also the fifth top point producer in Caps history, behind Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Peter Bondra and Mike Gartner, but he got that more than 73 points ago.
