For the second week in a row, a Washington Capital has been named the first star of the week. Last week it was goaltender Charlie Lindgren, and this week, it is captain Alex Ovechkin.
Ovi, who had a hat trick against Chicago en route to scoring his 800th career goal, also had two assists. This was also the 21st 20th time that Ovi has been named the player of the week. Ovi got this three times last season. It’s the first time in Caps’ history that they have had has the first star of the week in consecutive weeks.
