Hershey Beats Down Cleveland 4-2

Beck Malenstyn gets the game winner, Axel Jonsson-Fjallby scores twice and Pheonix Copley gets his second win in a row as the Bears win 4-2!

The Hershey Bears (22-11-2-3) welcome the Cleveland Monsters (17-16-1-2) to the Giant Center.  The Bears will host the Monsters two nights in a row.  This is the second game in a three game weekend for the Bears.  Last night, they went up against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, winning in a 6 round shootout 2-1.  Axel Jonsson-Fjallby scored the only goal for the Bears and Shane Gersich was the only player to score in the 6 rounds of the shootout.  Pheonix Copley was in net and won his 100th professional  hockey game.

1st Period:

Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, who is known for scoring while the Bears are on the road, finds the back of the net on the power play at home.  The goal was set up from Chris McCarthy with his beautiful pass across the crease of net minder Veini Vehvilainen and on to the stick of Jonsson-Fjallby.  This gave Hershey a 1-0 lead.

The Bears went into the locker room with a 1-0 lead with efforts like this from Pheonix Copley.

Cleveland tied the game after a tremendous amount of pressure.  Adam Clendening shot the puck from the point, through a screen and past Copley.  This tied the game 1-1 late in the second period.

The Bears were rewarded a power play shortly after and they cash in.  Bobby Nardella blasted home a one timer from the point to give Hershey a 2-1 lead.

With just a few minutes remaining, Beck Malenstyn tipped home a puck from a broken play.  This gave the lead to the Bears 3-2.

Jonsson-Fjallby went on to score an empty net, his 10th goal of the year.
