Nic Dowd: Call Him Al

The Capitals and their individual goal songs are a thing this season, as most players picked a song to play after they score goals. Radko Gudas hasn’t picked one yet, saying that he was waiting to actually score a goal before he decided. That happened tonight and the default goal song played instead of one selected by Gudas.

As for Nic Dowd, who scored an empty net short-handed goal toward the end of the game to seal the Caps’ 3-1 win, he does have a goal song. He just needed a reminder when I asked.

“I’m blanking right now. Sergey, what’s my goal song? By Paul Simon.”

“You can call me Al,” I said.

“Yeah! You can call me Al.”

It was Dowd’s third goal of the season and second at home, also his first since Oct. 20.
