The Washington Capitals beat the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, 3-2, making it their fifth-straight season with 100 points or more, and the 12th overall in their history. It’s also the 8th time in the Ovechkin era, starting in 2005-06.
More importantly, the Caps once again clinched a playoff spot and currently lead the Metropolitan Division.
A strong finish in the final four games can make this the 4th, 5th or 6th best regular season Caps team of all time.
The Caps had 105 points last season, the seventh best in team history, until the playoffs make it the best ever.
