Congratulations on 1,000 Games, Brooks Orpik!
(Caps Outsider)
Caps defender Brooks Orpik finally made it to 1,000 games. He took the long route to this milestone, as he missed significant time over the years due to injuries, but finally made it.
The 38-year-old began his NHL career in the 2002-2003 season with Pittsburgh, playing there for 11 years before signing as a free agent with Washington. Orpik went to two Stanley Cup Finals with Pittsburgh, winning once, and of course winning with the Capitals in 2017-18.
Orpik never played a full 82-game season but did play at least 78 games on six separate occasions. At 38 years and 110 days old, Orpik will become the 14th oldest player to play in his 1,000th career game.
Congratulations, Brooks Orpik, and thanks to your tireless work ethic and leadership that helped win the Caps a Stanley Cup last season. Let’s do it again.
