The Washington Capitals have announced that defenseman Christian Djoos is out indefinitely after successful thigh surgery that was needed after sustaining an injury Dec. 11 against Detroit.
Djoos., 24, has four points in 28 games this year and had 14 points in 63 games last year. Djoos is in his second NHL season after spending two full seasons with Hershey. Djoos was drafted in the seventh round in 2012.
With Djoos out of the line for the foreseeable future, Jonas Siegenthaler will likely take his place in the everyday lineup. Siegenthaler will replace Djoos on the third pair. No recall from Hershey is expected at this time.
Capitals defenseman Christian Djoos will be sidelined “a substantial number of weeks,” according to coach Todd Reirden.
