Chanukah Celebration in Olney With Peter Bondra

The Chabad synagogue in Olney, Md. built a menorah out of hockey sticks to celebrate the Caps’ Stanley Cup victory. On Sunday, Peter Bondra will be there, at the Fair Hill shopping center at 4:30 p.m. to light the first candle.

There is a conflict, however, as the Caps have a game during that time, as they’ll be facing the Ducks at Capital One Arena at 3 p.m. Bondra told me he’ll be leaving the game early to attend the service, and will be there with the Air Slapshot mascot. Kudos to him for doing that (especially since Bondra isn’t Jewish!).

The Caps donated 50 pucks and 35 sticks for the event.
