With a looooong empty net goal Friday – the 626th of his career, Alex Ovechkin past both Joe Sakic and Jerome Iginla for sole possession of 15th place on the all-time NHL goals list.
The next player that Ovechkin will pass is Dave Andreychuk, who has 640 career goals. And if he has a really good year, which he’s certainly doing, he may pass Brendan Shanahan later this season, who has 656 career goals.
