South Carolina Stingrays

Stingrays Fall 2-0 in Game 1 to Solar Bears

The South Carolina Stingrays came into their first round series against the Orlando Solar Bears as heavy favorites, but lost game one by a score of 2-0.

The difference in the game was the Stingrays power play. The Stingrays went 0-6 on the power play, and did not look good either. The game-winning goal for the Solar Bears was a shorthanded goal by Hunter Fejes to give the Solar Bears a lead midway through the second.

Cal Heeter out dueled ECHL goaltender of the year making 36 saves in the shutout win. JJ Piccinich would tally an empty netter for the Solar Bears clinching game one of the best of seven series.

Game two will be Saturday at the North Charleston Coliseum with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 pm.
