The Case for (and Against) the Justin Williams Hair Bobblehead

On Tuesday, the Washington Capitals announced the three candidates for this years bobblehead election. The candidates are: Tom Wilson in his 2015 Halloween costume, Justin Williams in his 2015-16 team photo, and Braden Holtby squirting his water bottle, which he does all the time.

Today, we’ll discuss the Justin Williams bobblehead.

Other bobbleheads:

Williams already has a Caps bobblehead, which was given out at the Inova Blood Drive.

What this bobblehead is based on:

This bobblehead immortalizes Williams’s hair during the 2015-16 team photo shoot, where he purposely poofed it. Caps fan Charlie McManus even made a shirt:

The case for: It was extremely funny, fits with the other hockey boblbheads, and still stands out.

The case against: As we said with the Wilson bobblehead, trinkets to commemorate a one-time joke sometimes work, but can also be overkill. Also, Williams is a free agent at the end of the season and might not be back with the Caps. Bobbleheads are rarely ever made for players who are in an unrestricted contract year. At the very worst, this bobblehead might serve as a bitter reminder that we had a three-time Cup winner who wasn’t re-signed after yet another dissapointing season. Is it worth voting for this bobblehead in anticipation of him re-signing?

Polling runs from 9AM to 9PM on Tuesday November 8th.
