Liam O’Brien Wags Tongue at Shark (And Gets First Career Point)

In his third career game Tuesday, fourth liner tough guy Liam O’Brien earned his first career point, assisting on Mike Green’s goal in the second period. But like his NHL debut, the personal milestone was bittersweet, as the Caps ultimately fell, 6-5, to the Sharks in a shootout.

“We had a really slow start. We need to play 60 minutes instead of 40. But at the same time we showed a lot of character. We came back – twice – and it was a hard-earned point. It would have been really nice to get the win.”

But it wasn’t his assist that people were talking about – it was his Gif-friendly tongue wag at 6’8″ John Scott during a scrum.

“I was just fooling around out there,” O’Brien said. “Just having fun.”

When told that this Gif, via Japers Rink, was making the rounds on the web, O’Brien smiled. “There’s no problem with that.”

O’Brien, 20, also had 2 shots on goal and was +1 in 6:12 of play.
