Round 2 Playoff Beard Update

Posted May 12, 2012

Karl Alzner - Undisputed Caps Champion of the Playoff Beard

Win or Lose tonight, we didn’t want to let the second round end without checking in with another beard update. In round one we took a look at some beards as they were taking shape. Today, we’re back with even more players and beards, again captured from Caps365 videos over the past couple of days. You can really see the progression if you check some of these photos compared to our previous post. Karl Alzner (above) was recently named best Caps Playoff Beard of this year’s playoffs by Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy, and it’s tough to argue with his assessment. Mouse over each photo below for the players name and some brief beard commentary. Then dream about how fabulous these studs would look with two more rounds of growth :

Alex Ovechkin : He's definitely letting it grow, but still trimming it neatly.

Mike Green : No mohawk silliness this year, just a clean playoff beard

Nick Backstrom : He's just not gifted with facial hair, but has other talents

Brooks Laich : Isn't he dreamy?

Jason Chimera : Honorable Mention from Puck Daddy.

John Carlson : Looking a bit rough, but he's still young.

Troy Brouwer : Dark and Thick, a thing of beauty

Joel Ward : Dark skin may be disguising a somewhat patchy beard.

Mike Knuble : His beard is a perfect metaphor for his leadership and grit.

Roman Hamrlik : A bit of trimming gives him a sharp look.

Braden Holtby : Has clearly not touched a razor, and it grows wild.

Jeff Schultz : Did you need the caption to figure out who this was?

Matt Hendricks : Holy Crap! Thank god they don't pay him to look pretty.

We’ll end with a little video on Playoff Beards by Ashley Koerber :
