Rest in Peace, Manute Bol

Caps fans in the 1980s occasionally tuned in to watch the dreadful Washington Bullets, not because they thought they’d win, but because 7’7″ Sudan native Manute Bol swatted shots out of the Capital Centre. Manute died Saturday at the age of 47.

In the fall of 2002, Manute signed a one-day contract with the Indianapolis Ice of the Central Hockey League. He couldn’t skate, but the publicity helped to raise money for Sudan.
