Ilya Protas and Cam Allen Sign Entry-level Contracts With Capitals

On the final day of Caps Development Camp, the team signed forward Ilya Protas and defenseman Cam Allen to entry-level contracts.
Protas, 17, was signed to a three-year entry-level contract which will carry an AAV of $889,167. He is the younger brother of current Cap Aliaksei Protas.
The Caps selected Protas with the 75th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft after he recorded 51 points (14 goals, 37 assists) in 37 games with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) during the 2023-24 season.
Meanwhile, Allen, 19, was also signed to a three-year entry-level contract which will carry an AAV of $886,667. He was selected with the 136th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Allen, who missed the first 43 games of the 2023-24 season while recovering from an injury, recorded nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in 25 games with the Guleph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League.
The young defenseman made his season debut on Jan. 26 and registered a season-long four-game point streak (1 goal-6 assists-7 points) from March 17-23.
