Schultz vs. Ovechkin

SchultzYes folks, it’s a race, a race for the best plus/minus in the league amongst teammates who are completely different types of players and play at different ends of the ice. Ho-hum defenseman Jeff Schultz is neck-&-neck with best-player-in-the-world Alex Ovechkin for the league-leading plus/minus statistic.

How they got there is a different story. Ovechkin normally creates the plus but relies on good defense and goaltending to prevent a minus, while Schultz usually helps prevent the minus and relies on the top three lines to get the plus (except when you count his one goal and 13 assists).

Who’s stat is more impressive? Certainly everyone will say Ovie’s, but for now, hats off to Jeff Schultz, who at +27 is tied with Ovie for best plus/minus in the league.
