For the 20th time in his 21-season career, Alex Ovechkin scored 30 goals, as he hit in a rebound in the first period Tuesday against the Flyers.
Ovi has already had that record for a couple of seasons, though, when he got his 18th 30-goal season to pass Mike Gartner.
It was his fourth career goal against Daniel Vladař, while he scored his fifth later in the game.
The only time Ovi scored less than 30 was in the shortened 2020-21 season, when he had 24 in 45 games, which was hardly his worst season.
This year, with 31 goals and 28 assists in 75 games so far, Ovi is putting up similar numbers as he did in 2023-24, in 1:42 fewer minutes a game.
In the third period, Ovi scored again to put the Caps up, 5-3.
