The Caps held an amazingly fun alumni meet-and-greet on Friday at Stars & Spirits in D.C., with surprise visits by Coach Peter Laviolette, Nic Dowd, Conor Sheary, Dylan Strome and Charlie Lindgren.
Alumni members there included Karl Alzner, Peter Bondra, Sergei Gonchar, Alan Hangsleben, Brent Johnson, Dmitri Khristich, Olie Kolzig, Nick Kypreos, Yvon Labre, Craig Laughlin, Dennis Maruk, Alan May, Kelly Miller, Paul Mulvey, Andrei Nikolishin, Steve Oleksy, Errol Rausse, Bill Riley, Ken Sabourin and Richard Zednik. Rod Langway was supposed to be there but couldn’t make it. Bondra said that someone told him he had jury duty, which is obviously false because no one has jury duty on a Friday night. Bondra also said Ovi was coming so I think he had too much wine.
An auction was held to benefit the Capitals Alumni Community Fund, which helps to grow the game of hockey within the D.C. area and support local charities. The Viking shield from last season sold for $5,000.
