For the Caps, It Shouldn’t Hurt So Bad, But It Does
The Caps had the Panthers beat three games in a row, but...
(Caps Outsider)
During Tuesday’s Caps/Devils game at Capital One Arena, the team played a tribute video for Nicklas Backstrom to celebrate his 700th career assist, which he accomplished during an otherwise forgettable 5-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Friday.
The video included cameos from John Carlson, Tom Wilson, T.J. Oshie, Alex Ovechkin, and Nicklas Lidstrom, the all-time Swedish assist leader.
The Caps will be giving him a gift, but it won’t be announced for a few weeks. For his 600th assist, he was given aΒ gold puck, and a gold stick for his 500th. The gift for his 700th will be announced in a few weeks, we’re told.
When you've dished out 700 career assists, you've become a pretty popular guy.
Teammates, as well as a special fellow countryman, pay their respects to the man they call "Nicky."#ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/MlrHdjrfTN
