Slapshot is celebrating his 25th year as the Capitals Mascot, and we have many fond memories of those years. However one of my personal favorite memories is when I sent Slapshot to visit my then girlfriend (now wife) at her workplace for Valentine’s Day back in 2003. She was a 3rd Grade Special Education Teacher in Montgomery County, and Slapshot showed up at the school in a limousine. He then came to her classroom to deliver roses for her, and autographed photographs for all of her students. My gift to her that year was the talk of the school.
