John Carlson Is NHL’s First Star of the Week!

Caps defenseman John Carlson, who is not only have a career year but making a good case for winning the NHL’s MVP award so far, was named the NHL’s first star of the week.

Carlson had three goals and three assists, including two game-winning goals, in three games as the Caps won all of them on the road and keep the team in first place in the league standings.

Only two other defensemen in NHL history have scored as many points through their team’s first 31 games: Bobby Orr (5x, most recently in 1974-75: 21-37—58 w/ BOS) and Al MacInnis (1990-91: 13-31—44 w/ CGY).
