Tyler Lewington Gets First Caps Gordie Howe Hat Trick in Seven Years

The last time the Caps had a Gordie Howe hat trick was Dec. 7, 2011, as Troy Brouwer had one in Ottawa.

Fast forward more than seven years, as Tyler Lewington played his second career NHL game. After an early assist, and then a goal in the first period, the game got rough and he dropped the gloves with Zach Smith.

We made this database of Caps Gordie Howe hat tricks last February, and interviewed former players about the goal/assist/fight stats in one game, so it’s great to finally be able to add to it!

(But also, how is Tom Wilson not on this list yet?)
