Grandfather Frost Visits Russian Caps

Ded Moroz, also known as Grandfather Frost, is in attendance at tonight’s Caps vs. Pens matchup in order to cheer for the Russian born Washington Capitals. Ded Moroz is essentially the Santa Claus or Father Christmas of Russia, and one of our favorite super fans dressed up as him for tonight’s game in an effort to delight the Caps’ Russian players.

Charlie McManus hopes they’ll see him down along the glass during warm-ups and know that the fans appreciate them, and respect their culture. He wore the costume last year, but wasn’t able to catch the attention of the players. This year he has added his Stanley Cup top hat, which he wore and had autographed at the Capitals Casino Night.

Charlie also brought with him a doll of Snegurochka, the Snow Maiden. She is the granddaughter and helper of Grandfather Frost. When McManus mentioned he didn’t have anyone to dress as the Snow Maiden, we suggested he could have probably found a young lady for the role on Craigslist. Maybe that’s not the best idea.

Charlie is well known to our audience and Capitals fans in general as the guy who wears custom shirts to the games at Capital One Arena. See our archive of Charlie articles for more of his awesome fan antics.
