Referees Attend Caps/Red Wings Game

Most of these refs are visually impaired and have called penalties on me throughout my beer league career. (Caps Outsider)

Tuesday marked the second annual Referee Night at the Caps game, where hockey refs from across the region get together and attend the Caps game, rooting for the refs the entire time.

This year, about 80 of them came, shouting words of encouragement to the referees on the ice every time there was an icing, off-sides, penalty, goal, whistle, or blatantly bad call, which is their favorite.

After the Red Wings scored their first goal, and the Caps challenged it, chants of ‘Ref You Suck’ started, but faded fairly quickly. Just imagine the chaos had that gotten out of hand. Maybe next year.
