The AHL Outdoor Classic festivities occurred back on January 19th and 20th in Hershey Pennsylvania when the Hershey Bears hosted the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
First kicked off the alumni game between Hershey and the Philadelphia Flyers. Some names for the Flyers were Eric Lindros, John LeClair and Danny Breire. The big name for Hershey was Raymond Bourque, father of Chris Bourque (current Bears forward) and NHL Hall of Fame class of 2004. The Bears would go on to defeat the Flyers 9-5.
The following day, the Outdoor Classic moved to the actual game where Lehigh Valley Phantoms would go on to win 5-2 over the Hershey Bears in a very exciting but cold day.
After the games, Jerseys were auctioned off for charities. You can see the results for the alumni game here and for the outdoor classic here.
In total, the jerseys raised $66,925!
This past week another online auction from meigrayauctions.com ended with such items as Pheonix Copley’s mask as well as Vitek Vaneceks. Both were worn only for the Outdoor Classic. Others were mostly jerseys from players were did not dress, have it be for them being called up on the Washington Capitals or down the in ECHL for the South Carolina Stingray.
