It’s Easy Being Green With the Caps

Caps fans have not only been rocking the red, they’ve been rocking the green this week as they celebrate Green Week at Verizon Center.

During Tuesday’s matchup vs. the Minnesota Wild, fans learned how to take care of the environment with green themed activities throughout the game. Thursday night the Caps welcomed fans to their St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. Fans who purchased a St. Patrick’s Day Holiday Ticket Package received a Caps St. Patrick’s Day party pack, which included a ticket to the game and exclusive giveaways. All fans in attendance had the chance to celebrate the Irish holiday with festive activities and had the opportunity to bid on special-edition green warm-up jerseys worn by the Caps prior to their game against the Nashville Predators.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation hosted the Go Green Auction, with all proceeds benefiting the Anacostia Watershed Society. They raised more than $25,000. The auction featured the autographed limited edition green jerseys as well as autographed sticks wrapped with green tape and autographed pucks with green Caps logos.

Green Week was presented by WGL (Washington Gas Light Company). Headquartered in Washington, D.C., WGL Holdings, Inc. is a leading source for clean and efficient energy solutions. Through their affiliates and strategic relationships, the Company offers a diverse set of energy sources including natural gas, wind, and solar as well as a range of energy solutions.
