Vanecek Records First AHL Shutout In Bears’ Win

The Hershey Bears returned to Giant Center Saturday to face the Albany Devils. After putting together three straight wins, the Chocolate and White looked to keep the win streak alive.

Vitek Vanecek got the start for the Bears Saturday night. Coming into tonight’s contest, Vanecek has posted a 1-1-1 record, with a 2.01 GAA and 0.933 save percentage. Against Albany, Vanececk stopped all 29 shots he faced recording his first AHL shutout as the Bears won, 4-0.

Last year, Vanecek spent his season with the Capitals ECHL affiliate South Carolina Stingrays, where he posted an 18-7 record with a 2.03 GAA.

Christian Thomas started got on the score sheet in the first period, putting his own rebound past Scott Wedgewood.

Bears Brad Malone and Stanislav Galiev would also add to the goal total during the first.

Finally in the third, Colby Williams netted the Bears fourth goal of the night.

In total, eight different players made the score sheet tonight for the Bears. With the win tonight, the Bears have won four in a row. Tomorrow the Bears will look to extend their streak as the Rochester Americans will come to the Giant Center for the first time this season. The Bears dropped their season opener on October 14th to the Americans.
