Caps Regular Season Review: By the Numbers

40: The number of games it took to lose two games in a row. Happened December 31 and January 2. Caps lost to Carolina 4-2 and then lost 5-4 in a shootout to Columbus.

0: The number of times the Caps lost back-to-back regulation games this season. Last team to do that? the 1976-77 Stanley Cup Champion Montreal Canadiens.

6: The number of Caps who scored at least 20 goals in this season, more than anybody else in the league.

7: The number of Caps players that played in all 82 games this season.

1: The number of times the Caps lost more than two in a row. That was the three-game skid from 4/2 – 4/7

107.1%: The Capitals special teams index (pp%+pk%). The Caps demonstrated to the NHL that they have more than just a prolific power play, the league was able to see that the Caps are a great penalty killing team.

3: The number of teams that had fewer regulation losses than the Caps had total losses. Those teams are Dallas, St.Louis, and Anaheim. All potential Stanley Cup Winners.

This has been a great regular season for the Caps. Whatever happens from here, will overshadow just how dominant this team was. I hope you enjoyed it because you will never see a team this good again for a long time.
